What is directree?

directree is a software directory built on one rule: every fact on a listing tells you where it came from. No fake "8.7/10 for support" scores, no pay-to-rank, no AI text disguised as verified fact.

The three labels

Every field on every listing carries exactly one provenance label:

| Label | What it means | |---|---| | ✓ Verified (green) | Observed fact – crawled from the tool's own site or otherwise verifiable (pricing visibility, integrations, free trial, socials). | | ✦ AI-inferred (rose-gold) | Our AI's read of the tool – summary, best-for, not-for, strengths, weaknesses. Always labelled, always correctable, never presented as fact. | | ★ Founder-edited (gold) | The verified owner of the tool has corrected or confirmed this field. Highest trust. |

Why "honest" matters

Most directories either sell their rankings or let AI generate confident-sounding "facts". directree does neither. Where we know something, we say so and show the source. Where the AI is guessing, it says so – visibly. Where the founder has corrected it, that's labelled too. If a fact isn't stated anywhere, we say "not stated" instead of inventing a number.

directree is free for everyone with an account – submitting, claiming, voting, and browsing cost nothing.
