Comparing tools side-by-side
The Compare page puts up to four tools next to each other using their live directree listing data.
How to use it
- Go to /compare.
- Pick a category – comparisons are within-category, so you're comparing like with like.
- Select up to 4 tools from that category.
- Read the side-by-side: pricing, free plan/trial, plan model, integrations, platforms, and the labelled editorial fields, column by column.
Everything you see comes straight from the listings, with the same honesty labels as everywhere else – you can tell at a glance whether a cell is an observed fact (✓), the AI's read (✦), or founder-confirmed (★).
What compare is not
- Not a scorecard. There's no "winner" row and no synthetic 0–10 totals. Tools trade off against each other; pretending otherwise is how comparison sites lie.
- Not pay-to-rank. Column order and content are never affected by Plus, boosts, or votes.
- Not padded. If a listing doesn't state something, the comparison says so instead of filling the gap with a guess. A thin listing looks thin – which is itself honest information (and a nudge for the founder to claim and improve it).
When you want a recommendation
A side-by-side answers "what's different?". If your question is "which one fits me?", run Find your best match from the same page – you answer a few questions about your needs, and an AI suggests the best fit grounded only in the listing data, caveats included.
There are also curated comparison pages (e.g. X vs Y) reachable from tool pages and search, plus every tool's alternatives page for the wider field.
