Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of directree (directree.io), operated by Henrik Malmkvist, Sweden. By using directree you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What directree is
directree is an honest software directory. We index, curate, and publish structured listings for software tools. Every listing includes clearly labelled provenance indicators: Verified (observed facts), AI-inferred (generated from public website text), and Founder-edited (confirmed by the maker).
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You may not share your account or create accounts on behalf of others without permission. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Submitting listings
3.1 Anyone can submit
Any user may submit a tool URL to directree. Submitting a listing does not imply any ownership claim over that listing. The listing belongs to the directree index, not to the submitter.
3.2 Claiming a listing
Software makers and their authorised representatives may claim a listing by verifying domain ownership (via DNS record, meta tag, or verification email to a domain address). Once claimed and verified, the representative may edit Founder-edited fields. Claim status is displayed publicly.
3.3 Your content
By submitting content (descriptions, edits, comments, votes) you grant directree a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish and display that content as part of the directory. You retain ownership. You must not submit content that is false, misleading, defamatory, or infringes third-party rights.
4. AI-inferred content disclaimer
Fields labelled AI-inferred are generated by an AI model from publicly available website text. They are editorial summaries, not verified facts, guarantees, or endorsements. directree makes no warranty that AI-inferred content is accurate, complete, or current. If you are the tool maker and you find an error, claim your listing and correct it.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use directree to:
- Submit false, fabricated, or misleading tool information
- Manipulate votes, ratings, or listing prominence through coordinated inauthentic behaviour
- Impersonate another person or organisation
- Scrape directree data at scale without written permission
- Use the platform to harass, threaten, or harm other users
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another user's account
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
6. Content removal
We reserve the right to remove or modify any listing, comment, or user-generated content at our sole discretion, including content that violates these Terms or that we consider harmful to the community or to the accuracy of the directory.
7. Intellectual property
The directree name, logo, design system, and proprietary software are owned by Henrik Malmkvist and may not be reproduced without permission. Tool names, logos, and trademarks referenced in listings belong to their respective owners. Listing a tool in directree does not imply endorsement by those owners.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Swedish law, directree and Henrik Malmkvist shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the service. The directory is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months (if any).
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Swedish law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sweden. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also have rights under the law of your country of residence.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app and on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
