The free GEO Check tool

Buyers ask ChatGPT "what is a good tool for X?" and "who is the best X in my city?" GEO Check shows you whether the answer names your business.

It works for two kinds of business:

  • Software: enter your website and pick your category. The questions mirror what a buyer asks when choosing a tool in that category.
  • Local or service businesses (law firms, clinics, contractors, agencies): enter your website, describe what you do in your own words, and add your city or region. The questions mirror what a customer asks when looking for that service in that place.

How it works

  1. Go to /geo.
  2. Enter your website. Pick a software category, or describe your business and add a city.
  3. GEO Check asks ChatGPT three real buyer questions with live web search on. The questions never name your brand. A question that names you gets you mentioned and measures nothing.
  4. You see the full answers, whether your brand appeared, which competitors were named, and the sources ChatGPT used for each answer.

The answers come from ChatGPT (gpt-5-mini) with web search enabled, the same engine and model that GEO Monitor Starter uses for its ChatGPT cells. A free check is a preview of what a paid scan records. Nothing is simulated. Results are cached for 30 days per website, category or city, and the check is free with no account.

Saving the result

Every result has a Save as PDF button. It opens a print view of the check at /geo/check/your-result-id/print. Choose Save as PDF in the print dialog to keep the answers and sources, or to share them with a colleague or client.

Reading your result

  • You appear: AI search already knows you. Keep your public facts consistent and current so it stays that way.
  • You do not appear: normal for small or newer businesses. AI answers lean on structured third-party sources: directories, comparison pages, review sites and local listings. Which is fixable.

Improving your AI visibility

This discipline is called GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). The short version:

  1. Get listed in structured, factual sources AI reads. Software companies can submit their tool and claim the listing here, for a start. Local businesses should keep their profiles on maps, review sites and industry directories complete and consistent.
  2. Keep the facts complete and current. A founder-edited listing with real pricing and integrations is exactly the kind of page AI answers quote.
  3. Build durable, relevant backlinks. See why directory listings matter.

The long version lives on the blog: AI Search Engine Optimization: the guide and How to get recommended by ChatGPT.
