Contributors & the Community Showcase

directree recognizes the people who make the directory more useful and honest. The full picture lives on the Contributors page; here's the short version.

Contributor standing (hidden by design)

Genuine participation – substantive contributions, quality survey answers, engagement other people find valuable – builds your standing. Three deliberate design choices keep it honest:

• The score is never shown. Not to you, not to anyone. A visible number becomes a game; a hidden one stays a measure.
• Quality earns, volume doesn't. Low-effort activity ("nice!", vote-spraying) earns essentially nothing. You earn by contributing things others value.
• Trust-weighted. Signals from suspicious or throwaway accounts quietly count for almost nothing. There's no ban-hammer drama – gaming just doesn't pay.

The two badges

• Runner-up – you're in the upper band of the community. Your voice already carries real weight, and Top Contributor is within reach.
• Top Contributor – the top band of the community by overall standing. Scarce enough to mean something; open to anyone who earns it.

Everyone below the badge bands simply shows no badge – there's no negative label.

The Community Showcase

Top Contributors who also have a verified (claimed) product are entered into the daily Community Showcase draw: a random, trust-weighted rotation that puts one community member's product in the homepage spotlight for the day.

Key properties:

• It's a draw, not a ranking – you can't buy or grind your way to a guaranteed win, which is the whole point.
• It's clearly labelled as a community-earned spotlight, so it never masquerades as "best tool".
• Eligibility requires a claimed, domain-verified listing – fake accounts have nothing to win.

The loop, end to end: participate genuinely → earn standing → Top Contributor → your verified product enters the daily draw. Survey invites (opt-in at signup) are the easiest steady way in – see Voting & the daily survey.
