MOTHER

Mother is a terminal built around Claude Code—not merely a place to run it. It treats Claude sessions as first-class citizens: launch a new session with the model and mode you want, resume past work in one click, and know when Claude needs your attention even when you’re focused elsewhere.

Start from a project launcher with recent projects, model selection, plan mode, and session history. Once you’re working, Mother is still a complete, real terminal: full PTY sessions in tabs and splits, whether or not you’re using Claude. Drop a file or folder onto a session to insert its shell-quoted path directly at the command line, and keep the built-in command reference open beside a live session whenever you need a shortcut or Claude Code flag.

Mother’s attention system keeps you in the loop without forcing you to stare at the terminal. The menu-bar M lights up, sends notifications, and can optionally chime when Claude is waiting for input.

Version 1.10 adds a live Web Preview pane for Claude Code sessions. Click PREVIEW to open a browser beside your terminal for local development servers such as Vite or Next.js, with hot reload, an address bar, reload controls, and a themed start screen that remembers your last URL. Claude can open it too via mother://preview?url=http://localhost:3000, with $MOTHER_PREVIEW available in sessions for discoverability.

The update also adds live model display and switching. The status bar now shows the actual resolved Claude model—even when a session starts on “Default”—and clicking it lets you switch among Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku directly from the terminal.
